  • Research and Work Cited Page--DUE TODAY! (2 separate pages)

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Tuesday May 29, 2012

Today we are going to start the application part of your exam.  The exam will be 2 parts--one, a Digital Story that will be completed by Friday of this week (June 1st). Two, an objective (t/f, multiple choice, etc.) that will be taken on exam day (June 7th).  Failure to do either part of the exam, will result in a failing grade on your exam.

The Digital Story is going to consist of research, creating audio files, creating a story, and publishing the story for me to grade.  You will work on this at your own pace over the next 4 days.  If you are someone who always finishes early, be sure to bring something to work on while others are finishing.  There will be NO TALKING, PLAYING GAMES, OR HELPING OTHERS.  This is for your exam grade.  Any of the above will result in a ZERO, for this portion of the exam.

If you still need to finish your weather project, you may do so today.  However, you will not be given extra time to complete your digital story next week, ao keep that in mind.  You may work on the weather project at home if you want your class time for the exam.

I hope you all had an enjoyable spring break! We now have 8 weeks left of school!! Here's what is on the agenda for today:
  • Review blog post--see below
  • Digital Storytelling
    • What is it?
    • Instructions for first project

Review So Far

I want you to create a new blog post on your blog.  So far this term, we have covered the following topics:
  • Google Docs
  • Wikis
  • Assistive Technology
  • Electronic Portfolios
In your blog post, I want you to give a brief description of what they are and how they can be used.  The post should be in paragraph form (each topic could be a new paragraph), and use proper grammar and spelling.  Remember, I's need to be capitalized, u and r are not words;-)

Spring Break

Read the Article from Time Magazine about spring break.  Thinking about what you learned in Online A about your digital footprint and Internet Safety, answer the following questions:

1.  The article said that there is no "firm" data that this is true...what do you think?
2.  How would you feel if someone (friend or possibly stranger) put a picture or video of you on the web doing something embarrassing or illegal??
3. After constantly hearing about why social networking is "bad" or "dangerous", is it nice to see something positive come out of  popular social networking sites such as Facebook and YouTube?? Explain.

Welcome to Online B!

Hello Class! Welcome to Mrs. Fowler's Online B class!  I look forward to meeting and working with each and every one of you.  Today we are going to do some basic introductory things (normal first day stuff) and see what you already know about technology.  Please keep in mind that you are expected to know and utilize all of the information that was covered in Online A.  Most of that content will be implemented in this class.  A few new things we will incorporate are: online documents, wikis, and digital storytelling.  I hope you enjoy the class!

This blog will be extremely important to you success in this class.  It will carry daily assignments, directions for assignments, and sometimes actual assignments, websites, articles for you to complete.  We will use it everyday and it is a good place for you to communicate with me if you are falling behind or need further direction.

Other tools we will use are: your personal blog, delicious account, and RSS feed.  Be sure that you know your usernames and passwords for all of these.

To start off the class, I want to learn about you, so you are going to leave a comment on this blog post about yourself.  Just a brief introduction of who you are and some things that you enjoy doing! I would also like you to tell me who you had for a teacher in Online Experience A.
